Week 4 Report

Recording the small things that happen each week

Monday: I genuinely don’t fucking get it. Three bullshit courses, and all three require PowerPoint presentations. Today’s bullshit course, the first group went up, and the professor was nitpicking like a goddamn hawk, hell-bent on finding flaws in the PPTs. Even said the remaining groups would lose points if they were the same. It’s a fucking bullshit course, why the hell does the PPT need to be such high quality? Ugh, gotta pull myself together for tomorrow’s PE makeup exam.

Tuesday: Practiced volleyball all morning. Exam. Failed again. Can only wait for Thursday’s final makeup chance. Volleyball doesn’t seem like it’s meant for humans to learn. Mastering volleyball in a short time? Absolutely impossible. There are way too many unpredictable factors—people, weather, location. Can you even guarantee your teammates have your skill level?

Wednesday: Another day from 8 AM to 9 PM.

Thursday: No classes all day, so went to practice volleyball again in the morning. Succeeded once, but that was an extremely tiny probability, and couldn’t replicate it after that. The professor doesn’t count lucky shots—you have to tell him you’re testing, and it only counts if he’s watching. Obviously, still failed in the end. Grades get posted next Tuesday. Practiced all afternoon too. Exhausted and absolutely nothing to show for it.

Friday: I fucking hate volleyball…

Week 3 Weekly Report

A weekly log of little nothings

Monday: Started a new course. Bad news — it’s a filler class. What’s baffling is the teacher telling us we’re the last cohort taking it, meaning we still have to slog through this useless course. Attendance is rigidly enforced: late? Points docked. Absent? Points docked. On official leave? Points docked. Like, even if I just skipped, the teacher might not even notice I’m gone — yet filing for proper leave still gets you penalized. A top-tier absurd filler course, no doubt. And they randomly pick people to give presentations, and of course I got chosen. So now I’ve got to make a PowerPoint. All these demands for a nothing class. Done with it.
Tuesday: Since I failed maths earlier and the make-up exam clashes with another make-up on the exact same day, my teacher told me to apply at the Academic Affairs Office. I’d heard the staff there are notoriously difficult, but I didn’t sweat it — figured as long as I was polite and sincere enough, it’d be fine. Fuck. Got flat-out rejected on the spot. I told them I had proof I was away at a competition and that my teacher had sent me here to apply for a resit. The office staff said: “Whoever said it’s possible — you tell that teacher to come sort it. We can’t. Your teacher seems plenty capable.” So yeah, looks like I’ll be retaking the whole damn course.
Wednesday: My memory feels worse and worse. Don’t know if it’s too many things piling up or what. 8 a.m. Java class — I can’t keep up with the logic anymore. Evening MySQL — same story. Just heard about exam schedules too, and I’m still brooding over how to deal with maths without screwing up graduation, plus sports exams… it’s just so much. At this rate I might not even have time over summer break to take the driving test for part three.
Thursday: Didn’t pass the sports exam a while back. Next Tuesday is my last chance to redo it, so I spent the whole afternoon on the field drilling volleyball. Can you believe it — over 30°C out there and I’m practising volleyball for hours. Too bad they took the balls back at five — no more practice then.
Friday: Some good, some bad. In the morning I got word that the maths make-up is definitely a no-go — I’ll have to retake it. The upside is I’m only losing something I didn’t really need, and it won’t affect getting my diploma. But now I’m stressing about failing PE. If I can’t win at basketball, maybe that’s a me problem, but for volleyball — could we consider it a teammate issue? And the PE teacher won’t let those who’ve already passed test together with those who haven’t. Feels like I’m set up to fail again. And it’s PE, of all things. How could volleyball possibly get any harder?

Week 2 Weekly Report

Recording the little things that happen each week

Monday: Same as usual, nothing really special happened. Just kinda drifted through the day.

Tuesday: Had a meeting in the afternoon, but the rain during that time was absolutely insane. The umbrella was basically useless, and by the time I got to the classroom, I was pretty much soaked.
After the meeting, later in the afternoon, we got a notice saying the teacher wanted to hold a meeting in the studio at noon on Thursday to check our learning progress. Only five people from the studio were called.

Wednesday: English class somehow got cancelled, but honestly that didn’t make the day any better. I had two classes at 8 in the morning and another two at 9 at night. Can’t wake up properly in the morning, can’t sleep properly at night — whoever made this schedule was actually insane…
The teacher also reminded everyone again in the WeChat group today about the meeting tomorrow at noon.

Thursday: Had no classes the whole day, so I went to do my usual duty shift in the morning. Around noon, the teacher suddenly had something come up and couldn’t make it, so the meeting got changed to online instead.
The five of us who were supposed to present were all in the studio already, so we just joined the meeting together there.
When it was my turn to talk, I suddenly noticed there was an extra person in the call. The weird part was, she had already left the studio a while ago, so honestly she probably shouldn’t still be getting access to this stuff.
Turns out someone noticed she wasn’t there and sent her the meeting code himself. Then somebody asked him why he sent it, and he seriously went: “She was here last time, so when I noticed she wasn’t here this time, I just sent it to her.”
Like… dude, the teacher didn’t even send her the code. Why are you worrying about it that much? If the teacher actually wanted her there, they would’ve sent it to her themselves. Why are you acting more concerned than the teacher?

Friday: During morning class, I suddenly remembered that I completely forgot to do last week’s Linux homework.
Luckily the teacher didn’t give us shit for it. They reopened the assignment and said we could just hand it in before tonight.
Then later that night I checked again and — oh shit, I forgot again. The assignment was already closed…

First Weekly Report

Recording some small things that happen each week

How This Week Started

While searching for blog projects online, I stumbled upon Huizhi’s blog and learned that he had also set up the weekly project. The original creator of the project is tw93, and I found it quite interesting, so I decided to build one myself.

I strongly agree with Huizhi’s view: weekly and blog are indeed two fundamentally different formats

Type

Characteristics

Weekly

More fragmented, focusing on periodic life records and summaries

Blog

More systematic, focusing on accumulated knowledge sharing and reflections

A Week in Notes

Monday The innovation competition results are still up in the air. Originally scheduled for release on the 8th–10th, the date was pushed to the 9th–15th, so I can only keep waiting. Additionally, I was pulled into a new competition, but I was already overwhelmed. I spoke with my professor in the evening to explain the situation and withdrew. When you know you can’t finish something, it’s better to be upfront early—that’s being responsible to both the team and yourself.

Tuesday A day packed with classes. Morning PE class at ten, and I keep hitting the volleyball off-course—any quick tips? 🏐

Wednesday A girl reached out to me asking for help setting up the environment for a big‑data competition. She asked, “So you’re still gonna handle the environment setup for me, yeah?” I didn’t reply. After all, she put in no real effort and just planned to leech off my work to win an award. I’d end up doing all the heavy lifting for the competition while she just played the pretty face. I’ll detail this whole story on my blog later, so I won’t elaborate here.

Thursday No morning classes, but the studio scheduled a shift, so sleeping in was out of the question. Woke up early, got to my post, turned on the computer, and started a new day. Also had a Linux exam in the evening, cramming at the last minute.

Friday A day with no classes, and many people chose to go home. I spent the day successfully setting up the weekly project. Another ordinary week has passed.
